The nonprofit organization Washington Regional Alcohol Program (WRAP) partnered with the ridesharing service Lyft to provide WRAP's SoberRide service in the Washington-metropolitan area on Wednesday, July 4 to Thursday, July 5. Residents can use the popular and free safe ride service SoberRide from 7 p.m. July 4 to 4 a.m. July 5. This is a way to keep local roads safe from impaired drivers during a traditionally high-risk period. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, over 40 percent of all U.S. traffic deaths involve drunk drivers on July 4th. If you are drinking, and need to get somewhere else, there is an app for that! Just take out your phone, and open the Lyft app. You will be able to gain access to a free ride. The Robert E. Lee Memorial helps honor his legacy in promoting peace and moving on after the Civil War had ended. Going through the grounds will take you on a history of his life and where you can learn more about the perils that both the North and South had gone through in the Civil War and why it was important to rebuild the country together. One thing to keep in mind if you are wishing to visit is that Arlington House is actually closed until 2019 as an extensive renovation and clean-up is underway to help bring the site upkeep up.
